Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 24, 2026

The short version. ScreenSense captures your screen only when you ask it a question. Screenshots are sent to Anthropic for processing and discarded immediately — never written to disk on our servers, never logged, never retained. OCR runs locally on your Mac. Your conversation history stays on your device. We charge for usage; we don't sell your data.

This policy explains what data ScreenSense handles, where it goes, and how long we keep it. The Service is operated by Nazli Nadem on behalf of Rayan Sohrabian, based in California, United States.

1. Data we handle

Account data (stored on our servers)

Your email address, account creation date, current credit balance, and your auto-recharge preference. Stored until you delete your account.

Payment data (handled by Stripe)

Stripe processes all payments. We store your Stripe customer ID and a token reference to your saved payment method (used only for auto-recharge). We never see, transmit, or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly. See Stripe's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.

Screenshots

When you ask ScreenSense a question, the app captures a screenshot of your screen. The screenshot is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Screenshots are discarded immediately after Anthropic returns a response. They are never written to disk on the ScreenSense backend, never logged, and never retained.

OCR text (processed locally)

Optical character recognition runs locally on your Mac via Apple's Vision framework. The extracted text is included in the API request to Anthropic alongside the screenshot, but it is not stored on ScreenSense servers.

Conversation history (stays on your device)

Your prompts and the AI's responses are stored locally on your Mac in a SQLite database, used to power the memory feature so ScreenSense can answer follow-up questions in context. This data never leaves your machine. The ScreenSense backend does not store the content of your questions or the AI's answers. You can clear your local memory at any time from the app settings.

Usage metadata (stored on our servers)

We log minimal metadata for each request: timestamp, image count, token counts, and the credit cost. We use this strictly for billing accuracy, abuse prevention, and capacity planning. Retained for 13 months and then automatically deleted.

We respond within 30 days. Residents of the EU, UK, and California have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

5. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Users under 18 may use the free starter credit only with consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. See our Terms of Service for details.

6. Security

We use TLS for all network traffic, store session tokens in the macOS Keychain rather than plain files on disk, and scope database access behind application-layer authentication. No system is perfectly secure; if you discover a vulnerability, please email support@tryscreensense.com.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be emailed to the address on your account at least 14 days before taking effect.
